The Faculty of Computing and ICT held a four day tour of four cities namely Hargeisa, Berbera, Sheikh and Burao. The delegation was led by Prof. Mohamed Mohamoud Jama "Derie", Vice President for Public Relations and Community Outreach, Edwin Omondi Okech, Dean Faculty of Computing and ICT; Warsame Abubokor Sh. Abdi, lecturer at the Faculty of Computing and ICT and Head of Student Affairs Section at the Faculty of ICT; alongside Mohamed Muse Omar, a Senior programming and databases lecturer at the Faculty of Computing and ICT.

The tour started in Borama on Friday the 9th day of December 2016, with a trip to Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland with a short pit stop in Hargeisa before proceeding to Berbera Town, the port City of Somaliland. During their stay in Berbera, the students proceeded to visit the Berbera Sea Port Authority where they were hosted by the governor of Sahil Region and the Berbera Sea Port Management. The students had the pleasure and privilege of viewing the actvities at the port and getting some insights into the export and import services at the port. They also took time to view the scenic beauty of the Red Sea from close proximity at the habour.

Upon completion of the tour of the port, the students had the pleasure of enjoying swimming and fun games on the white sands at the Red Sea beach and in the ocean blue waters. The students were drawn from Senior Bachelor of Business Information Technology class, Senior Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Class and Stage Five Diploma in Information Technology Class.

The next stop was Sheikh hills, where the students enjoyed the beautiful scenic Gollis range with several twists on the winding roads from the foot to the top and over to the other side of Sheikh Hills as they headed to Burao town. There was one  more stop that the team made at SOS Children's Centre before proceeeding to Burao Town. The team was warmly received by the principal of the school and shown around the school premises.

The journey went further to Burao Town where the students met their colleagues and counterparts from Burao University and there enjoyed academic interactions and social networking with their fellow comrades from Burao University. This visit was made possible by efforts from Mrs. Khadra Jama, who is in charge of University of Burao External Relations. Prof. Suleiman Dirir Abdi, the President of Burao University opened the meeting with an opening and welcome remark for the visitng team, which was then followed by a word from Prof. Mohamed Mohamoud Jama "Derie", Vice President for Public Relations and Comunity Outreach Amoud University.

After that, the two left the meeting in the hands of Aidurus Hassan Mohamed, the Dean Faculty of ICT, University of Burao and Edwin Omondi Okech, Dean Faculty of Computing and ICT, Amoud University. University of Burao and Amoud University have had long standing history of close collaboration, consultations and networking, both institutions being members of SomaliREN(Somali Regional Education Networks) an organization whose membership comprises various universities located in Somali-speaking regions drawn from all over East Africa including from countries like Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya.

In the final stretch of the four day journey, the students were invited to Egal International Airport, Hargeisa, by Mr. Mohamed Yusuf Ismail, the General Manager, Egal International Airport. The students enjoyed a warm welcome from the staff and had the chance to visit all areas around the airport including security services, passenger assistance teams, immigration office, check-in and luggage departments, CCTV control room and finally the Manager's Office.

The manager Mr. Mohamed gave a short speech in which he appreciated the long standing mutual partnership that has existed between Amoud University and Egal International Airport particularly in offering opportunities for the students in Indutsrial Internship or Field Attachments which gives them invaluable job experience that enables them feel and actually know what happens in real life before they graduate and finally are free to move into the world of employment or even self employment.

He further promised that in 2017 such similar more opportunities will be given to a few students. Prof. Mohamed Mohamoud Jama "Derie", Vice President for Public Relations and Community Outreach thanked the Manager of Egal International Airport a lot for his warm welcome, grand reception and orderly treatment of the visiting Amoud University team. The Dean of faculty of Computing and ICT furthmore thanked the Manager also for his continued support and for enabling the cordial, amiable, mutual relationship that has been established between the two insitutions.

He further thanked the Ministry of Civil Avaiation of Somaliland under whose docket Egal Internal Airport falls and also the Somliland government by extension, for granting such opportunities to the students. Egal International Airport and Amoud University have resolved to further strengthen their co-operation for the mutual benefit of the two institutions going tinto the future. The awesome visit safely ended on the fourth day Monday December 12th,2016 with a return journey to Borama Town, the home town on Amoud University Main Campus.
