The current population of students from freshman department is 1261 according to statistics and latest data from Office of the Chief Registrar for 2017/2018 Academic Year. The meeting was opened by a word from the Quran by Shamsudiin Mahamed Elmi. This was followed by a brief speech by Abdinasir Dahir Egeh, the assistant dean, Office of Students Affairs and Counseling Services. In his speech he reminded students to maintain discipline as it is considered a major recipe for success in anything you do in life. The students were further reminded to go by the Students Code of Conduct while carrying themselves at the university. Moreover he also informed the freshman students of the existence of Students Union of Amoud University which comprises student officials drawn from various faculties in the main campus Amoud university and whose membership comprises class representatives and faculty representatives from the student body. One of the mandates of his office, he said, is to help establish the office of the Students Union of Amoud Uiversity through organizing elections for them. In addition he reminded the students to be keen so that they may know the programmes, dates and events scheduled throughout the semester which significantly impact on their lives as students such as deadlines for registration and rules and regulations governing re-exams and special exams.

Another important point which he highlighted was the issue of student ID (Identification) cards which he said was a mandatory requirement for all students to have. He stated that all students need to observe and act according to the Academic rules and regulations of Amoud University so as to avoid any unnecessary disruption of their studies arising from disciplinary problems that may at times lead to costly delays or derailment of their studies. Lastly Abdinasir reminded the students fraternity to take note of the rules and regulations that govern boarding of the university students buses plying Borama-Amoud road including the need to satisfy all requirements in order to be granted permission to board such as possession of valid ID card and keeping time by arriving at the pick up point before the expiry of the time assigned for the respective classes' shift. He emphasized the need to keep time especially so as to avoid being barred from taking the bus as a result of lateness.
